I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when I was 22 years old and sometimes feel that between living with it, participating in clinical trials for it, and writing professionally about it for more than a decade, I have some sort of unintentional graduate degree in the disease.  In addition to reporting and writing about Type 1 diabetes for A Sweet Life (among other publications), I work as public speaker, patient advocate, copywriter, product advisor and freelance consultant. For more about the diabetes side of my professional life, please visit Diabetes, Et Cetera. Here's my favorite piece of writing that I've done about diabetes, a piece for the New York Times' Well Blog called "Thinking About Diabetes With Every Bite."
